About me and how I work

Hello, I’m Eddie.

I’m a psychotherapist and counsellor based in the Macedon Ranges, Victoria. I offer sessions by telehealth Australia wide and in person in Woodend, Victoria.

I work with people aged 13 and older experiencing: depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, life transitions, grief, loss, caring roles, career and work/school related difficulties, and suicidal ideation.

My role as a counsellor is to support you not only in symptom reduction, but in moving towards:

  • A mind with greater clarity on who you are, how you feel and what is important.

  • Relationships that are fulfilling and enriching.

  • Behaviours in life that are aligned with your most important values and best self.

My approach is informed by person-centred and relational therapies. This means that in session my focus is on you, your description of your challenges, your feelings regarding these challenges, and how our work together could help you navigate these. In our first two sessions I will complete an assessment with you to clarify the focus of our work and your treatment goals. Over the course of our sessions we can reflect on these goals and adjust as needed.

I have seven years experience working in the mental health sector and over 15 years experience working in the community development and social research sectors focusing on employment, mental health, youth, gender and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues.

I welcome people of all genders, sexualities, abilities, and cultural backgrounds and will work with you to ensure the counselling space is one where you feel comfortable and free to be and share yourself.

Registration and qualifications:

I am a registered practicing counsellor with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia.

I have completed a Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Cairnmillar Institute specialising in Humanistic Therapy.

Why ‘Acacia’?

Growing up I grew up on a street named Acacia. I share this because while you and the things you are navigating in life will always be my focus in session, I always endeavour to relate to my clients as fellow human beings first and foremost, with a story to tell, and who are facing very human problems. My approach to therapy, healing and growth is underpinned by my belief that none of us go through life unmarked and unaffected by it, and that it is only through genuine, connected and supportive human relationships that healing and transformation can take place. By sharing that I grew up on a street named Acacia I acknowledge my own journey to the place I am today, in the hope that by doing so you may feel more comfortable to share your own with me and let me walk alongside you as you move towards healing, recovery and the ‘good life’. (
